The Shanghai Charity Foundation has donated over 9,000 wheelchairs for distribution by Neighborhood Committees, hospital outpatient departments that have been designated for charity medical treatment, and clinics at universities and colleges through its Mobile Wheelchair program. So far, over 4.5 million yuan has been allocated to this project. The regular upkeep of this program calls for 1,000 wheelchairs to be replaced annually, which requires an outlay of 500,000 yuan.
