The Shanghai Charity Foundation’s Charitable Projects

Cataract Extraction for Eyesight Recovery

Established in 2001, the Cataract Extraction for Eyesight Recovery program has contributed over 11 million yuan to help 2,800 cataract sufferers-in-need recover their eyesight. Each year, through the program, the Shanghai Charity Foundation provides free cataract extraction for 600 cataract sufferers-in-need. An annual outlay of approximately 2.4 million yuan is required to provide 4,000 yuan for the cost of each operation.

Cooperating hospitals include several of Shanghai’s leading hospitals, such as the Huashan Hospital Eye Center, the Heping Hospital Eye Center and the Ai’er Eye Center.
