About the Shanghai Charity Foundation

Founded in 1994, the Shanghai Charity Foundation (SCF) is a non-profit organization whose primary purpose is to raise funds, organize charitable activities and promote philanthropy.

Over the past 11 years, guided by the principal of “Charity by Society, Charity for Society”, the SCF has raised over 1.2 billion yuan in funds and commodities though a variety of charitable activities, including its groundbreaking annual “Love Under the Sky” telethon held every Chinese New Year.

To date, the SCF has disbursed nearly 634 million yuan, nearly 62% of its usable funds, to establish and manage a variety of charitable projects which have helped over a half million individuals and groups.  Overhead expenses for the SCF account for only 5.6% of the SCF’s expenditures as confirmed by annual independent audits which are published yearly in one of Shanghai’s major daily newspapers, Jiefang Daily.

Today, the SCF regularly helps over 130,000 people-in-need and organizes over 70 ongoing charitable programs and countless numbers of one-time charitable projects every year.
