
The Shanghai Charity Commodity Management CenterShanghai Charity Commodity Management Center (formerly the “Shanghai Charity Contributions, Goods and Materials Service Center, renamed in 2005) is an independent, non-government organization that receives supervision and support from the Shanghai Charity Foundation, but operates as a separate legal entity. Since its establishment in 2000, it has worked to collect new and used goods in Shanghai to generate over 80 million yuan in material donations from the public. So far, it has donated over 60 million yuan in clothes, food, medicine and books to people-in-need around Shanghai and across China. This includes nearly 800,000 pieces of clothing, of which over 30,000 pieces have been distributed to people-in-need in Shanghai, and nearly 650,000 pieces have been distributed to people-in-need in Yunnan, Hunan, Jiangxi, Guangxi, Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang. Today, over 180 different Commodity Centers have been established across Shanghai to collect these goods.
